AHMA Education Scholarships

Since 2003, AHMA East Texas has awarded 45 scholarships of $2,000 each to deserving residents of affordable housing - a total of $90,000. These scholarships provide educational and career opportunities to economically disadvantaged students, and may be used for post-secondary education at accredited colleges, universities or vocational schools.

AHMA / SHCC Resident Scholarships
Thirteen $2,000 Scholarships available (total of $26,000)

These scholarships, funded with a generous grant from Southwest Housing Compliance Corporation, are awarded to qualified residents of project-based section 8 housing in the jurisdiction covered by the Houston office of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

►Application Packet

Each scholarship applicant must be a qualified resident of a project-based section 8 housing unit (as certified by the property manager) located in the AHMA East Texas membership area.

In addition, each applicant must submit a complete AHMA East Texas 2008 Scholarship Application Form along with the required letters of recommendation. It is very important that applicants follow all instructions contained in the application form.

Scholarship Deadline is March 31, 2008
All completed applications must be received in the AHMA East Texas office by this date.

Scholarship Announcements: May 15, 2008
Scholarship awards will be announced on this date. Funding dates will be specified in each individual award. Final scholarship awards are contingent upon the recipient's acceptance at an accredited educational instiution prio to the actual funding date. If a Recipient has not been accepted by that date, the scholarship will be revoked.
